This is called Buggyani or Uggani in my hometown (Kurnool) and surrounding places. This can be served for breakfast or as a evening snack. Perfect combination for this Mirchi Bajji or Mirchi pakora. This used to be my favorite after school snack.
Ingredients
Puffed rice-2 cups
Tamarind juice-2 tsp
Pappula Podi-1/2 cup
Onion-1
Green chillies-3
Tomatoes-2
salt
Sambar Powder-1 tsp or more
For seasoning: Mustard seeds,cumin seeds,channa dal,urad dal, red chillies and curry leaves
1.Soak Puffed rice in water for 1 minute and then strain water and keep aside
2.Heat oil and add seasoning stuff. Fry onions, green chillies and tomatoes.
3.Add tamarind juice and let it boil.When it starts to boil add salt and sambar powder and cook for 2 minutes
4.Add puffed rice and mix. Cook for 2 minutes and switch off the flame.
5.When it is still hot add pappula podi and mix well.
This can be eaten without any accompaniment but when I was little, I used to mix it with yoghurt and eat.
